What is protection class II?

Protection class II - protective insulation means protection through double or reinforced insulation, i.e., safe electrical separation.

Special features of SK II

Luminaires with protection class II have no connection to the protective conductor. Instead, there is reinforced or double insulation between the active and touchable parts. The following factors, among others, must be taken into account for luminaire manufacturers:

  • Structure
  • Creepage and clearance distances
  • Insulation resistance
  • Creepage resistance of the insulation materials used etc.

Which connectors may be used in luminaires with protection class II?

The following connectors from our range meet the requirements for insulation class II applications:

SLK 5 SK II (for max. 300V working voltage)
SLK 3 (for max. 250V working voltage)

Attention: The luminaire manufacturer is responsible for the final evaluation of the connectors, taking into account the specific application in the luminaire.
