The demands placed on modern connection technologies are increasing – not only from a technical standpoint, but also in terms of environmental standards and legal regulations. At Electro Terminal, our resource-efficient production goes beyond legal requirements.
Sustainable production
Our products are halogen-free wherever possible and optimized for material efficiency. This includes the reuse of sprue material, the minimization of plastic waste, and the return of metal chips during metal processing for recycling purposes.
We also place great importance on a high proportion of recycled materials from our suppliers.
Why halogen-free?
Halogen-based additives are commonly used in connections to enhance flame-retardant properties. However, their production, use, and disposal can burden the environment. Some flame retardants feature high persistence or the potential for bioaccumulation, which is why they are under increased scrutiny.
During the disposal of electronic waste, plastic parts containing brominated flame retardants must be treated separately. They cannot be easily regranulated, as this could affect subsequent processes such as pretreatment, mechanical, or chemical recycling.
The majority of our products meet the strict requirements for flame retardancy – entirely without the use of halogenated additives. As a result, environmental impact is reduced, and disposal is simplified.

- REACH-compliant: We carefully select our materials to avoid the use of substances of very high concern.
- RoHS-compliant: We do not use any substances listed in the RoHS directive in our products. We have eliminated lead from the production of our items, so we do not need to apply any time-limited RoHS exemptions.
