Brexit has finally come into effect. Luke Arter, Sales Director of Tridonic Distribution UK, told us how this has affected the business.
Affected by Brexit
"Brexit hasn‘t been without its challenges, however product delays have not been as problematic as feared.
Whilst there were some initial delays at the port and increased shipping and handling charges, the flow of product and the new charges now seem consistent and stable.
From Tridonic Distribution's perspective, the main difficulties faced were a lack of shipping details. Also unclear were the new import/export documentation requirements, or more specifically, who is responsible for completing this documentation. Communication through the supply chain - from suppliers, shippers, carriers to the final destination - is not transparent, leaving many unaware of the required costs and delivery times.
Stockpiling in the UK prior to Brexit has helped mitigate some of these delays, and as time moves forward, a pattern is emerging that allows us to plan and inform our customer base more accurately."
